Georgia Tech Business School – Introduction

Every business school talks about technology, but few embrace it quite so fully as Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business, established in 1913. The school is located in the middle of Atlanta’s Tech Square district, home to many startups and major corporations.

Scheller’s program has its fair share of tech-focused courses, especially when it comes to electives. MBAs can choose from eight immersive tracks that consist of four related electives, including Business Analytics, Innovating for Sustainability, Leading New Ventures, and Supply Chain Innovation. Tracks supplement academic work with projects with businesses, talks and panels featuring guest speakers, and networking events.

A number of students are also selected for the TI: GER Technology Commercialization immersive track, a 16-month project that brings together Scheller MBAs, Georgia Tech PhDs, and Emory JDs to take a business idea to market. The number of MBAs who can take part in TI:GER recently increased from 25 to 40.

Students can cluster electives in concentrations that consist of three electives centered on a particular area. Some are functional, such as Accounting, Finance, or Marketing, and others are interdisciplinary, such as Cross-Cultural Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Quantitative Finance, and Strategic Sustainability. Ultimately, students take a total of 11 electives, giving the intellectually curious plenty of space to explore.

Scheller’s experiential learning comes largely in the form of “practicums” — semester-long consulting projects involving real-life problems. Students work alongside businesses gaining insight and great networking opportunities.

“I believe in technology and innovation, and I learned from professional experience that business acumen is a key ingredient to connect dots between engineering and the customer/market,” says MBA’22 Youngtak Lee. “The Georgia Tech Scheller MBA program offers a unique experience for their students with a small cohort size, world-class professors, a wide spectrum of programming, and most importantly, the best career service coaches.

“I knew it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity if I enrolled and I was very elated that I received an offer to join such a prestigious program.” For more details Click Here…
